What is the difference between Green,Yellow and Blue painters tape?

1.Painters Tape Paper Backing

While both Green, blue and yellow painters tapes are coating Water-based acrylic adhesive. Blue painters tape has a Blue crepe paper, which has a large thickness and large tensile strength. On the other hand, Green and Yellow painters tape has a Washi paper that tends to better conformable.

2.Painters Tape Bleeding

Blue painters tape may bleed or leave residue behind. The yellow painter’s tape will not bleed or pucker when using water-based lucite house paints as masking tape does.

But Yellow painters tape will damage the already painted wall after peel off. When you masked off some areas on the wall sprayed with latex paint, maybe you left the tape on overnight. When you see the result, The wall has distinct lines and mottling in the nitro where the colored painters tape had resided. The chemical in the colored painters tape has reacted with the Nitro. The tape's adhesive has migrated into the nitro lacquer, swelling the finish under the tape.

Green painters tape is a safe colored painters tape for nitro finish. It is Painters masking tape DON NOT damage to Nitrocellulose Lacquer.

3.Painters Tape Residue

The adhesive on blue painters tape could also cause the tape to leave a sticky residue behind. The mess is difficult to clean. However, Green and Yellow painters tape does work well if you’re painting walls because it comes off glass cleanly.

4.Painters Tape Clean Lines

Technically, both colored painters tape types can help you achieve a clean, straight line. However, Yellow painters tape tends to adhere to surfaces better and longer. You can leave yellow painters tape on a surface for up to 14 days without causing harm. Blue painters tape can also produce clean lines if you remove it within 3 days of applying it, but the tape is not reliable for a long time.

Alternatively, yellow painters tapes include an absorbent polymer barrier that keeps paint out and helps produce extra-sharp lines. Using this type of yellow painters tape is ideal if you’re planning to paint shapes, stripes, or decorative patterns.

What is the Difference Between Masking Tape and Painters Tape?

While both Masking and Painters tapes are focus on leave residue behind. But they are different application for masking different areas.

Now we'll analyze their differences from several different items: Adhesive, Bleeding, Residue, Clean lines, Applications.

Masking taps carrier and glue:
Cloth,
Crepe Paper, PE cloth, PET film.
Rubber glue, Acrylic glue.

Painters tapes carrier and glue:
Washi paper, Crepe paper.
Rubber glue, Acrylic glue.

Adhesive

While both masking and painter’s tapes are focus on leave residue behind. But they have different adhesive properties.

Masking tape have natural rubber adhesive or acrylic adhesive. Perhaps the adhesive layer is very thick and suitable for masking some rough surfaces. Users pay more attention to its excellent initial tack performance. Most of masking tape is applied at normally temperature.

Painters tape has a medium adhesion level acrylic adhesive. It is very thin that tends to stick well to paint surfaces and remove reliably. And painters tape is more focus on high temperature resistant and UV resistant.

Bleeding

Painters tape have more excellent conformable to the substrate than Masking tape. So painter’s tape will not bleed or pucker when using water-based lucite house paints as masking tape does. The natural rubber adhesive on masking tape may buckle with water-based paints, causing the tape to buckle and permitting paint to seep below the tape.

Residue

Masking tape is pressure sensitive, thick and very adhesive, easy to tear by hand that is used in various tasks ranging from masking off areas that are want to be protect or as temporary fix other typical day to day applications. Residues might be left behind upon the removal of the tape depending on the time of removal.

But painters tape does work well no residue after your painting finished. You can leave painter’s tape on a surface for up to 14 days without causing harm.

Clean Lines

Painters tape are designed to leave a cleanest finish and precise edges when painting on wall or car body. Especially in the areas of much attention to detail such as coach stripes or custom finishes. Painters tapes are manufactured from a flexible washi paper backing. It is extra thin and excellent conformable that tends to be gently curved over a complex surface.

Masking tapes are manufactured from a cloth or crepe paper backing. It is difficult to provide you with a clean line after removed.

Uses

Painter’s tape is commonly used to cover areas which shouldn’t be painted when painting and create a straight edge.

Masking tape is use for fixing, binding, sealing, or mending. They are easily removed tape less adhesive residual.
